giAnna's songs are simultaneously ‘silly’ yet thought provoking. They have a funny way of worming into your brain like that one episode of Spongebob. She is a unique blend of Philadelphian soulful R&B vocals and hypnotic harmonies combined with a midwest emo-indie pop/rock and alt folk sound that is relatable across generations. Drawing from a tapestry of influence, her music and lyrical content reflect her eclectic tastes. Through her story-telling lyrics and infectious melodies, she is able to express the themes of self-reflection, human existence, and estrangement within her music.
As a kid growing up in South Jersey, giAnna spent much of her youth gigging at various venues with her father (performing pop, rock, and r&b classics) and routinely performing National Anthems for multiple Philly sports teams. She also spent countless hours singing little ditties into her voice memos, many of which blossomed into completed originals. Inspired by the likes of PRONOUN, Yebba, Theo Katzman, Slow Pulp, and her Beatle-fan father, who downloaded all The Beatles albums into her iPod touch, giAnna’s music is a meld of all she has grown up to be. Drawing on her performance experience, from local bars to Lincoln Financial Field, giAnna has been gigging the Boston circuit with her band and giving the audience a glimpse into her adolescence. Like most artists, music has always been the only way for her to fully express herself and embrace her inner child. Her goal as an artist is to connect on a spiritual and emotional level with the listener; provoking thought, fostering inspiration, and instilling hope.
